Suzanne Frances Fairchild was born in Ontario, Oregon, to Hugh and Merle (Boswell) Skinner. She had a stroke and passed away peacefully at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. She was 77 years old.
Her family moved to Redmond in 1945 and she graduated from Redmond Union High School in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart Kenneth "Ken" Dwain Fairchild in Redmond on November 19, 1950. They raised their family of five in Central Oregon. She enjoyed her career as a bookkeeper. In 1993 Ken and Sue retired to Enterprise where they were active members in the community and the Enterprise Christian Church. They returned to Central Oregon in 2003, settling in Prineville.
Suzanne was a devoted wife for 58 years and precious mother and grandmother. She was happiest when surrounded by her family; their laughter brought her great joy. She enjoyed the beauty of all nature and captured that beauty in her stunning oil paintings.
Suzanne became a member of the Powell Butte Christian Church in 1953. She enjoyed attending Bible study with her many friends and was lovingly referred to as "Precious." She lived her faith every day, there was never any doubt she was storing her treasure in Heaven. Suzanne will be remembered for her love of life and her amazing ability to find the good in everyone and in every circumstance.
She is survived by her husband, Ken, and their five children: Scott and Cindy Fairchild and Sharon Fairchild of British Columbia, Kristi and Bruce Dunlap, Karen Roberts, Shelley and Scott Knutz all of Powell Butte, as well as 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). Suzanne was a loving sister to Darlene Zarosinski of Klamath Falls and Kirt Skinner of Pendleton, Oregon.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Powell Butte Cemetery. Pastor Chris Blair of Powell Butte Christian Church officiated. Prineville Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Powell Butte Women's Ministry Group at 13720 SW Hwy 126, Powell Butte, OR 97753.
