The majority of the grapes were harvested from the vineyard at nearby Ranch of the Canyons, the rest were grown at Maragas' local vineyard, most of which is still in the experimental stage.
Visitors shoveled grapes – the new wine will be a blend of seven varietals – into the press and were on hand to taste the juice before it was pumped into vats for fermentation. Maragas said he expected the wine to be ready for sale within a year.
