Spanish immersion for kids
R.I.C.E. (Redmond Inter-Cultural Exchange) is now hosting a Spanish Immersion Group for Children and CompaƱeros Friends for Adults and Teens Saturdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m., at the Redmond COCC campus, Building 3. The children’s group is open to kids 3 to 12. Parents must attend or volunteer for the session. Registration is required and a there is a $5 monthly materials fee for each child. English as a Second Language
St. Albans Episcopal Church is sponsoring a nine-week one-on-one English as a Second Language class for adults, beginning Oct. 19. The classes will be held Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and require a $5 materials fee. Work materials are available for students who are not proficient in their native language as well. Centennial dinner and auction
The Redmond Centennial Committee is now taking reservations for a fundraising dinner Oct. 10, at the Redmond Humane Society Event Center, 1355 N.E. Hemlock Ave. The Redmond Centennial will take place in 2010. The dinner will raise funds to support the events, school and community projects, and commemorative structures of the Centennial. COCC continuing education
COCC’s Continuing Education Department is offering the following classes this fall at the Redmond campus:
Computer Essentials I, Oct. 13 and 20, 6-9 p.m. Class suited for absolute beginners. Cost is $49.
Healthy Horses, Mondays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Oct. 12 through Nov. 16. Learn about horse nutrition, vital signs, recognizing emergency situations, bandaging and first aid, vaccinations, and health problems such as colic and founder from a local veterinarian.
