Donations for shelter yard sales
The Humane Society of Redmond will be holding five weekend sales Nov. 20 through Dec. 19 to raise revenue for the shelter and is accepting donations of items for the sale. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations will also be accepted in Sisters on Saturdays. Spanish class for kids cancelled
The R.I.C.E. (Redmond Inter-Cultural Exchange) Children’s Spanish Immersion Group has been canceled, effective immediately, due to a lack of volunteers. Sell your candy
This Halloween, trick-or-treaters age 13 and younger can bring their excess candy to Steve Schwam, DDS, and receive $1 per pound up to 5 pounds. Dr. Schwam is promoting this anti-decay movement by giving away dollars and Halloween toothbrushes in exchange for cavity-provoking candy. All candy collected will be sent to military troops in the Middle East. Art walk artists sought
The city of Redmond is seeking artists to represent their original work during Downtown Redmond’s Holiday Walk the Art Beat Nov. 28, noon to 5 p.m. This year’s event will coincide with the community’s holiday celebration, including the downtown Holiday Open House, community starlight parade and tree-lighting ceremony. Artists will be paired with downtown galleries and businesses to present their art as part of Redmond’s kick-off to the holidays. Both fine arts and crafts are welcome. Storytime in Spanish
The Redmond Public Library is offering Spanish language storytimes for children ages 3 to 5 on Saturdays, Oct. 30 through Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Stories, songs, rhymes and other activities in Spanish will be offered. The library is at 827 S.W. Deschutes Ave. Information: 541-548-6358.
