Book honors late outdoor writer
“Meet Me In The Badlands: Exploring Central Oregon with Jim Witty,” is now available throughout Central Oregon. The book is a collection of articles by the late Jim Witty, outdoor writer for The Bulletin. In his articles, Witty took readers with him to the trails, lakes, rivers, desert and mountains of Central Oregon. Witty died unexpectedly in November 2008. His family and friends joined together to publish his articles, a project he had talked about for many years. The book is $19.95, and proceeds go directly to the Jim Witty Memorial Fund to benefit his wife and sons. The book is available in Redmond at Paulina Springs Books and Cent-Wise Sporting Goods, and at several locations in Bend, Sisters, Prineville and Madras. Final curtain call for Bend theater
2nd Street Theater’s production of “Harvey,” a classic American comedy and Pulitzer Prize-winning play made popular by Jimmy Stewart, will be the final production for the theater. Due to the current down economy, 2nd Street Theater will close in early January. “Harvey” runs Wednesdays through Saturdays, 8 p.m., and Sundays, 3 p.m., Dec. 3-19. “Ski for Schools” fundraiser planned
The Mt. Bachelor “Ski for Schools” fundraiser to benefit the Education Foundations for Bend-La Pine and Redmond Schools runs Nov. 30 through Dec. 4. Skiers and snowboarders can purchase a $20 Ski for Schools ticket and redeem it at Mt. Bachelor any one day during the Ski for Schools week for a single-day lift ticket. Tickets are on sale through Nov. 28, and can be purchased in Redmond at all Mid Oregon Credit Union branches, all Redmond McDonald’s restaurants, Jody’s Drive-In and the Redmond School District office.
