Burnell was born to Clara and David Lane on Dec. 14, 1923, in Ellington Mo. He spent his youth in Missouri working in logging camps. He married the love of his life, Anna Marie Medley, on Feb. 16, 1943, a day before he entered the Army. They were married 62 years. He was honorably discharged on Jan 30, 1946, with honors.
He moved his family to Iowa, then to Oregon in 1952, where they raised their five daughters. He loved to fish, hunt and rock hounding and spending time with friends and family. He also loved canning and making jelly. He retired from Brook Scanlon.
Mom and Dad spent many years as snow birds traveling the countryside with friends, then settling in Medford.
Like everything he did in life, he passed away with grace and dignity surrounded by his family on November 9, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie, and grandson, Jason Lee Neth.
He is survived by daughters, Sharon and Jim, Salt Lake City; Jeanne of Colorado Springs, Linda and Stan of Redmond; Mary and Steve of Bend, and Deanne and Brian of Medford; three sisters; three brothers; 13 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and 12 great- great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Bobby Lee Medley.
Dad, no sweeter, kinder man as there ever been -- We love and miss you.
No service at this time. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society. Funeral Alternates of Medford.
