Melvin W. Schult
Feb. 18, 1933 - January 8, 2010
At the age of 76 years old, Melvin W. Schult died January 8, 2010. He joins his wife of 51 years, Norma J. Schult, who died on May 17, 2007. They rest together. Mel completes a life of accomplishments: academics, a successful professional career and community involvement. He graduated from Redmond Union High School in 1950. Mel was a veteran, serving in the United States Air Force for four years, and reached the rank of captain. He graduated from Oregon State University and received an MBA from Santa Clara University. Mel was a financial officer for Beaver Coaches and RDC Machining. He enjoyed building the homes he shared with Norma, and outdoor recreation including hiking, boating, and fishing.
Melvin is survived by his son, Bryan and his wife, Della; their sons, Gregory, Nick, and Shawn. He is also survived by his sister, Vernell Whipple and her husband, Don; two brothers, Dale Schult and his wife, JoAnne, Earl Schult and his wife, Marionne; Norma's brothers, Darrel, Norvin and his wife, Evelyn Liska.
A graveside service at the West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene is being arranged. Friends and family are encouraged to contact Evelyn Liska through Lane Memorial Funeral Home, Eugene, Ore. Condolences may be offered via e-mail to the family at danerimortuary@sbcglobal.net

Kathleen M. (Percival) Elliott
March 16, 1918 - Jan. 14, 2010
Kathleen Elliott, was born in Madras, Ore. to Sydney and Alice (McReynolds) Percival on March 16, 1918. Kathleen was an avid rockhound and antique collector. She was a gifted pianist who shared her talent at many places around Central Oregon. She graduated from Madras High School in 1936 and then attended OSU.
She was married to Fred H. Elliott in 1938, and they farmed at the foot of Cinder Butte, just north of Redmond. Many years were spent working a Grade A dairy.
She is survived by C. Jane Wormington, Edward M. Elliott, Georgia A. Surplus, E. Louise Seal and Phyllis K. Bussett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Elliott and a son, Raymond D. Elliott; also four sisters and two brothers. She has 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A service to honor her life and mourn her passing is planned for 2 p.m. Friday, January 29 at the Redmond Senior Center on Dogwood, just east of the Redmond Fire Hall. Inurnment was along side her husband in the Ten Commandments Garden at Deschutes Memorial Gardens.
Autumn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Redmond Senior Center.
