Donald Everett Smith
Jan. 21, 1927 - April 10, 2011
Donald Everett Smith, 83, beloved husband to his late wife Billie, lived a wonderful life. He took his last breath peacefully in the home of his daughter, Cynthia Claridge. Surviving him are his daughters, Cynthia, Janine Smith, Deanna Smith; his son, Brad Smith; his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Don grew up in Oakland CA, entered the Navy at 17, and met his late wife Billie while serving in Spokane WA. Together they raised their family, initially in Spokane and eventually in Portland, OR. Don enjoyed a long career in advertising and marketing, where he made many friends. Upon retiring Don and Billie spent some years traveling the world and moved to Redmond, living together until her death in 1998. For the past 10 years, Don resided with his long-time friend, Marilyn Greene, in Bend. He is a man who will be truly missed here on Earth, but in his wake are many who feel gratitude for the opportunity to have known and loved him. We cherish his memory and rejoice in his newly found freedom and peace.
Contributions can be made in the name of Don and Billie to the Redmond branch of the Deschutes County Library, Partners In Care Hospice, or the Oregon Nature Conservancy. Funeral services will be held in Spokane later this spring.

Leona Marguerite (Creson) Moe
April 22, 1917 - March 31, 2011
Leona passed from this world on March 31, 2011; she was 93 years young. Leona was the loving wife of Leland Moe (deceased), and is survived by her daughter, Janet White (Portland), and was a wonderful grandmother of Lea White Bring (Redmond), Yvonne White Porter (Redmond), Leland White (Deer Park, WA), and Greg White (Portland). Leona was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandson. Leona was born in a homestead located amongst the orchards of Odell, OR. She had spent the past 35 years in Terrebonne and Redmond. She was a passionate defender of the earth and was very pleased when “Earth Day” was celebrated on her birthday each year. She was a meticulous homemaker and loved gardening, cooking, sewing, and playing cards with family on Sunday nights. She had been known to cheat at cards on occasion, although it was never clear whether it was done on purpose. One of Leona’s favorite memories was climbing to the top of Misery Ridge at Smith Rock when she was in her 80s. She loved having guests, although not too often or too many. Leona will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Private interment at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland at a future date. Special thanks to Redmond Hospice.
