Get rid of old tires
Residents are enc ouraged to dispose of unwanted tires for free at a c ollec tion event Saturday, Sept. 17 at Knott Landfill Rec yc ling & Transfer Fac ility. The semiannual event benefits the c ommunity by giving c itizens an opportunity to dispose of used tires in a responsible manner.
The c ollec tion event takes plac e from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tires both on and off the rim c an be dropped off. Tires over 24.5” (wheel diameter), farm equipment tires, tires from businesses, fleet tires, or heavy equipment tires will not be ac c epted.
There is a limit of 12 tires per household. If you have more than 12 tires, please c ontac t the Desc hutes County Department of Solid Waste in advanc e for approval, at 541-317-3163. Community theater tryouts sc heduled
Innovation Theatre Works in Bend will hold auditions for the first show in its new alternative performanc e spac e, The Balc ony Café.
Six men (any ethnic ity, ages 25-60), one boy (age 10-14), and three women (any ethnic ity, ages 25-60) are needed for the play.
Casting will be held Monday, Sept. 12 at ITW from 6 to 8 p.m. Auditioners may bring their own prepared two- or three-minute monologue or c old read piec es from the play at the audition. All members of the c ommunity are invited to audition.

VFW hosts event to honor POW-MIAs
A POW-MIA Honoring Ceremony will be held Sept. 17 at 5:15 pm. It is open to everyone and a spaghetti feed will follow at 5:30 p.m.
