Learn to live on a few ac res
Living on a Few Ac res , a one-day c onferenc e whic h targets small ac reage landowners and farmers of all sizes, will be held at the Desc hutes County Fair & Expo Center on Saturday, Marc h 3.
More than 30 c lasses will be offered to provide opportunities to learn about field management, small farm business, growing spec ialty c rops, animal health and nutrition, trac tor safety and driving, water rights and wildlife c ontrol and enhanc ement.

New c lasses this year will feature drip irrigation, pond development, fruit tree and grape produc tion, c omposting, permac ulture, beekeeping, food preservation and direc t marketing. The Storefront Projec t, the Nature of Words’ free, after-sc hool c reative writing workshop program, has been seeing rec ord attendanc e but still has room for more writers.
Open to all middle and high sc hool students in Central Oregon, the workshops take plac e Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Workshop themes c hange monthly and are taught by loc al authors/instruc tors.
